Gerhard deininger was head coach of the FC wacker haig soccer team for over 23 years. The 68-year-old himself played more than 1,000 compulsory soccer games for his FC wacker haig in various classes. He remembers well when, in 1976, the team lost 3:2 to the VFL frohnlach for promotion to the district league. Deininger played in the first team as a 17-year-old and still in the old league at the age of over 50. He was involved in the construction of the sports field as well as the sports home in the early 1970s.
Now, as a fubball resting place, he built and installed a bench himself, and it could not be painted in anything other than the club colors black and female, he laughs as he proudly presents the bench behind a gate. And yet he is anything but a restless person. To this day, he is the musical director of the heimat-trachtenverein, of which he was a founding member in 1969 and is an honorary member today. He was also one of the initiators of the creation of the "haache stockraache" and also leads this aubergewohnliche folk music group today still and accompanies the singing group with accordion. And he also made a name for himself as a solo entertainer as a "gray wolf" a name.
He will visit the bench more often, not only during football games, but simply to relax and enjoy the beauty of the sports facilities, the adjacent playground and the beauty of the landscape around haig. "As long as I am not sitting here, the bench can of course be used by other hikers or rest seekers, only when I come, I want to have my bench for myself", he says with a laugh.
