aero club lichtenfels secures class preservation in class 2. Bundesliga

The last rounds in the 2. Gliding national league turned out to be symptomatic for the entire season. The pilots from lichtenfels had to be content with modest flying conditions in small weather windows also in the last three of the altogether nineteen rounds. Round placings in the midfield, however, still provided important points for class preservation.

Fast flights failed to materialize

Last season, the stay at the flight camp in klix at the beginning of august brought the necessary points for the promotion, but unfortunately the long and fast flights were missing this year. During this period, of all times, the gliding weather at home in upper franconia was much better than in upper lusatia, so that the pilots who stayed at home, such as hubert kluger and wolfram bartsch, had to fly in the points.
In the final round of 19, the junior team of jan kretzschmar, patric riebner and philipp lauer with day rank 12 in the D-squad junior training still earns nine valuable points for the standings. For philipp lauer, however, the flight ended prematurely in a stubble field near hochstadt after a long struggle to stay aloft due to a lack of thermals.
A look back at the first season in the 2. Class. Gliding bundesliga in the end, however, the goal set at the beginning of the year, namely to stay in the class, was secured with a great effort by the entire team and by taking advantage of all flyable rating days. With rank 13 the team of the aero club lichtenfels placed after nineteen exciting races on a satisfying position in the front midfield of the 30 participating teams from all over germany.

Club hopes for better weather

First place in the overall standings went to HAC hamburg, ahead of LSV gifhorn, aero club berlin and FC eichstatt.
For the coming season the league pilots of the aero club lichtenfels hope for more homogeneous and well flyable weather conditions and strive for a placement in the front midfield again.
